OkraFest is Galveston's Own Farmers Market's annual party where we eat, drink and make merry--all in the name of community, local agriculture and good food for all. Our 4th annual fundraiser is an epicurean feast with local foods sourced from nearby farms & food artisans, prepared by 5 different local restaurants who deserve a spotlight. Served in the beautiful historic Garten Verein, the night is rounded off with a silent auction, raffle prizes, live music and plenty of drinks & food to share.
Join us as we revel in our coastal region's year-long growing season and enjoy a well-deserved midweek celebration that's also a good cause. Your support will strengthen the local food community & helps expand its benefits to all within our Galveston community. OkraFest proceeds fund the operations of our Food Access Programs like SNAP/FreshBucks & the distribution of WIC Vouchers, the expansion of our Young Gardeners Program which turns GISD schoolyards into vegetable-producing mini-farms and students into mini-farmers and the continued sustainable expansion of the farmers marketplace that has become a beloved fixture of Galveston Island.
Your ticket allows you to taste true local summer flavors with a small plates epicurean menu featuring dishes from:
And did we mention the local craft beers served up by our friends at Galveston Island Brewing? They're partying alongside us, pouring their crowd favorites & toasting Gulf Coast summer. And if that's not enough for you, our saucy pals from beloved craft cocktail bar Daquiri Time Out are shaking & mixing special-themed cocktails especially for OkraFest.
After the fun & success of the last 3 years, we're thrilled & humbled to host this summer event once more. The funds raised will support us as we continue our work towards bettering this community through connecting folks to better food, to better health and to one another.
Tickets are $40 before August 9th if purchased with cash in-person at our markets, $42 if bought online & $50 day of and at the door.
